Mission: Undead Cabbages?
Location: Ei's Room
Timeline: MD01, 0900

Ei led Mina through a lush, green land. Everywhere Mina looked, when she did not see green, she saw flowering bushes and plants of many different colors and fragrances. Everything felt happy and smelled fresh. Eventually, however, this greenery gave way to cobbled streets. The buildings in this area were made of stone and seemed to be well shaped and strong.

Walking the streets were elves, half elves, humans, neko, gnomes, and the occasional dragonborn. While people wore smiles and nodded as Ei and Mina walked by, Mina could tell that there was something that disturbed everyone. Their eyes spoke of fear and distress. Ei continued to lead Mina into an inn labelled, "Busty Melon Inn."

This atmosphere seems unsettling
"Hey, umm, any reason why everyone is looking at us like this?" Mina whispered in Ei's ear.
Maybe it doesn't matter...

"Like what?" Ei asked Mina.

"Well, they look scared." Mina whispered back.

"They are, but not of us," Ei whispered.

"Ah." Mina whispered back.

Mina wondered what they were afraid of, but she figured that she would find out soon enough.

Leading Mina through the tavern, many of the patrons wondered what the Kitsune was doing with a half elf as Ei held her hand to guide Mina. The stopped at a wooden door and Ei took out a key and opened the door. Behind the door, was a room that looked as if it had been scrubbed several times. Everything in it seemed immaculate except for a couple of scorch marks on the floor. There was a wooden bookshelf on top of a light oak colored desk that contained several neatly stacked ancient looking books. Opposite the desk was a twin sized bed made of wood with a mattress that was filled with straw. On a small table near the bed was a bowl and a mug.

"Here we are, Mina. It is not much but it is my temporary home."

"Wow, it's so clean..." Mina says in awe, until her eyes hit the floor.
I won't say anything, it seems rude Mina thought, scanning the rest of the room.

"Cleanliness is next to Godliness," Ei replied with a bashful giggle. "Though, you are kind to say so. I may be paying for some of the marks I made," her cheeks started to flush.

"Oh, you mean those burns?" Mina asked teasingly. "Practicing some spells I take it?" Mina followed up.

Mina was enjoying teasing Ei, all playfully of course.

"There were bugs," Ei responded, shrinking into herself. "But I got them!"

"How big were these bugs? Now you've got me scared that you have giant deadly bugs or something!" Mina exclaimed.

"I don't know how big they were. I didn't take the time to get on the ground and measure them. Maybe the length of the tip of my finger to the second knuckle?"

"So you made all these giant marks, for household bugs? I see why you wanted me to kill them now... It's ok, I will protect you from them, with my foot!" Mina declared proudly.

"But what if they're attacking from a ceiling or the wall?" Ei replied with a shiver. "And there are rumors that we actually eat something like eleven spiders a year while we sleep! It creeps me out! How can you protect me in my sleep?"

"I'll figure it out! I'm a smart cookie! It's worth it for a cute friend like you." Mina replied back blushing.

"So what now?" Mina inquired, grinning, with her face very close to Ei.

"Um.... um.... uh...." Ei tried to gather her thoughts completely flustered. "I think, um, we need to figure out how to get your memories back!" Ei finally cried out. "I don't know if I have anything in my books, but you can look in them and read them too, if you want. I just can't let you go wandering off until we know."

"Well, what if we can't get them back? What then? I mean, I did kinda just appear from nowhere, right?" Mina questioned, as she moved closer to Ei.

"At least I made such a cute friend!" Mina exclaimed, before wrapping Ei in a tight hug.

Ei squealed in surprise the moment that she was hugged and turned at least four shades of red as it happened. "Um, um, um.... Ayeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeye! Um...." She tried to form any set of thoughts but could not with Mina's body pressed tightly against her own. Even Ei's tail and ears stood rigidly upright.

"Aww, you make such cute noises!" Mina squealed, and continued hugging.

Suddenly, the door to the small room burst open and an Elven woman with pink hair and eyes dressed in somewhat stylistic and ornate silver and white armor, one hand on her large two handed sword.

"As a paladin and former princess of the kingdom of..." she began before trailing off when she realized no one's life was actually in danger.

"Ah... Well... When the locals saw Lady Ei dragging a stranger into her quarters and with her penchant of practicing magic at all hours, many people expected the worst," The pink haired elf explained as she began to lower her guard and removed her hand from her weapon. "But perhaps they... And I... Were mistaken."

If it was possible, Ei turned several darker shades of magenta. "Ayayeyeyyeyeye!" she howled. "No, no, no! This isn't how it looks! Um, uh. Mina.... Tell her.... Please?" Ei's eyes started to tear as she tried desperately to figure out what to say and how to say it, but being completely flustered, was lacking for the proper words.

"Well, look at her! She's so cute, I just had to hug her!" Mina declared.

Clearing her throat, Mina spoke again. "I'm fine though. I just kinda don't remember anything, and she found me and was gonna help me." Mina confidently stated.

"Yes, well, it sounded like someone was in distress and as a Paladin, it is my duty to place myself in the line of danger to protect people," the Elven woman replied, clearly having misread the situation and doing her best to recover from it. With a slight blush, she continued. "My name is Adelaide von Rowenhalte the Third, by the way. Please call me Adel. Normally, I would recommend seeking help from one of the healers that frequent the Guild, but as you say, Lady Ei is quite cute and one of the attendants there would likely fawn over her far worse than you were if you were to do so."

"However, if you wish to use me as a sh... sh... Shield against such things, I would be more than happy to do so." For some reason, as she continued, Adel's blush deepened as she mentioned being used as a shield.

Wanting to feint from being flattered so and still recovering from the hug, Ei finally gathered enough courage to squeak out, "Um, it is...it is quite, um, alright. I, um, well, I can help Mina, but um, I'm really, um, I'm really nothing special. I just study here.... Trying to defend...." She buried her face in her slender hands. Gods! Why is this happening to me?

"Well, I'm not really all that physical, so maybe you'd like to join us Adel? That is, if my cute friend is also ok with it. I think we'd make a great team. I'm Mina, as Ei has already said. I'm 16, and I'm an Enchantress, although I don't know how to use the powers. No memories, and all." Mina easily spouted off.

This whole memory loss gig is starting to get hard, but they wouldn't believe me if I told them the truth.

"I cannot even imagine what losses you must have suffered to have caused your memories to abandon you like that. At least you know your name and what you have skills in at least," Adel replied, still slightly flush. "Would you like to go to the Guild now, or would you prefer to wait a while? Either way, I will act as your bodyguard and as your... mmm... your shield... fending off the unwanted advances of those trying to lay their hands on you..." She was definitely flush by this point.

"She does not even remember how to use her abilities," Ei replied, finally trying to gather herself. "But I told her that I would help her," Ei said protectively. "Your assistance would be welcome but I don't know...." She looked expectantly at Mina.

Mina grabbed both Adel and Ei into a hug.

"You both are the best!" Mina squealed excitedly, while she squeezed both of them tightly, with the biggest grin on her face.

More allies is good, and they're both so cute too!

With the drastic height difference between them, Adel couldn't help but feel like she was being squeezed by a decidedly short opponent. Still, this was no time to get flustered. "Thank you. I feel like my cuteness is far outweighed by my other qualities, however. Besides, the two of you are far cuter."

"And you, Lady Mina... I see you seem to have no shame at all," Adel added, a hint of a grin on her red face as she looked down at the woman now hugging her, her head pressed to her solid breastplate.

Initially the hug was shocking to Ei. She tried to wail out but she found herself smothered in Adel's breastplate before she could utter a word. Breaking the hug, Ei tried to hide her face. The thought of her being cuter than Mina or Adel was disconcerting. IT was not possible. She was just a kitsune and an extremely reclusive one at that. "Um, uh, ayeyyyeyeye. I'm not that special. I'm just a simple wizard. You're all...you're all.... I don't know what to say...."

Mina looked at Adel blushing: "I am not cute, you both are! And it just so happens, this was the place my head fell, I do have shame!" Mine defiantly squeaked, obviously embarrassed and flustered.

After hearing Ei's response, Mina looked over at her blushing and replied: "But Kitsune's are cute, and you're one of the cutest!" Mina blurted out, before covering her mouth, embarrassed.

I'M IN WAY OVER MY HEAD, THEY ARE TOO CUTE!!!

"So, what do you both think? Should we go to the Guild, or not?" Mina inquired, still looking very flustered and embarrassed.

"It is the most logical thing to do. I have heard stories of people that have mysteriously appeared in this world with strange and amazing powers becoming great and powerful heroes and most of their journeys started at or revolved around one of the Guilds. If you are not just an amnesiac and one of those people..." A sliver of hope twinkled in Adel's eyes for a moment as she looked Mina up and down once more. "Lady Ei, do you believe her to be...."

Ei found a black spot on the floor immensely interesting as she replied, "Um, she did, um, show up out of nowhere. I was just picking berries and she scared me!" The last word was uttered with the same shock that she felt when Mina showed up. "It was so startling it was all I could do to hide behind a bush. Normally, I might have blasted her but she was really sweet and kind and I could not let her go around with her memory missing...."

"I guess we should go to the Guild, but you'll both stay with me no matter what, right?" Mina asked, with puppy dog eyes.

"I couldn't stand to be separated from my new friends." Mina said, as tears formed in her eyes.

Placing her hand on her breast, Adel bowed her head slightly. "As a paladin, it would be my honor to accompany you and act as your escort and shield. You may use me... and abuse me... in any manner in which you see fit."

Reluctantly, Ei responded, "I have already accepted responsibility, so if this is what Mina wants, I also will accompany her."

"Well then, on we go!" Mina shouted cheerfully, placing one arm around each girl's shoulder.
