Mission:
Undead Cabbages?
Location: Outside St. Ignace
Timeline: MD 001, 0800
It was an average uneventful day for John... That is, until he died.
John was a 27 year old IT Contractor working from home. He always worked the night shift, going to bed around 7AM, and tonight was no different.
It was about 3AM, and he had just finished up another ticket successfully. It was a stormy night, lots of rain and thunder, which is normal for his area. He leaned back in his chair to rest until the next ticket, when lightning decided to strike him, instantly ending his shift, forever.
When he awoke, he found himself in a place devoid of anything. He sat up and looked ahead.
That's when a brilliant light illuminated the area, revealing a woman wearing an outfit similar to that of a nun but decidedly different in odd ways. Like the fact that the woman seemed to both be lit from above and glowing at the same time.
Then she spoke, and little sparkles of light seemed to flow outward from her, surrounding John. "Greetings, Hero. I know this will be difficult to hear, but you have passed on in your old world. I am here to offer you a chance at a life in a new world. A chance to fight for the good, decent folk of this world as a Hero. If you accept, I will grant you a boon of your choice and send you into the world."
"Will you do this? Will you fight against evil and try to bring peace to the hearts of the free people's of Demona?" As Eris smiled brightly and stereotypically, a floating popup window appeared in front of John with two buttons - yes and no, but no, for some reason, was disabled.
"Well, I'm dead, so what do I have to lose? It's not like I can select 'No' anyway." John stated optimistically. He then hit yes!
As the box vanished, Eris clasped her hands around the new Hero's outstretched hand. "Thank you so very Much! You won't regret it!"
"My name is Eris and I'm the Goddess of Mercy of the world you'll be going to." As she spoke, she reached into her robe and pulled out a deck of cards that had the images of many skills, abilities, and items on them. "If you don't mind, I'd like you to choose a boon so you may be the best Hero possible."
John examined the cards, and noticed that all the cards were feminine variations, such as huntress, enchantress, etc, but brushed it off.
"Hmm, I'll go with Enchantress! That seems like it would be fun!" John happily exclaimed.
"Ohh an interesting selection," Eris said as the card fanished into John's hand and his whole body began to glow and Eris put the rest of the cards away.
She then followed that up with a frown as she looked over the Hero before her. "Oh my... It seems the reincarnation system has a few changes in store for you. I'll try and lay you down somewhere safe."
As the portal to Demona swallowed up the Hero formerly known as John, Eris called in after him... Now her... "That card can tell you about who you are in that world! Don't lose it! Good luck Mina~!"
Then the portal snapped shut and there was only darkness.
"Wait, did she say Mina? Odd." He thought, as he fell through the darkness.
Changes indeed...
When he awoke, he found that she was now a girl. She remembered what the goddess had said, so she looked over the card. The card revealed that she was a half elf, 16 years old named Mina Lia, and had the skill of Enchantment. She grabbed a strand of her hair, and noted that it was pink. "Cute" she said, before covering her mouth suddenly. "I even have an adorable voice too." she thought to herself. She looked down, and noted that she had a nice body, almost perfect skin, and a reasonably sized chest that she figured was a C or D cup.
John had always been unhappy as a man, so this was his, now her dream come true. Now she was ready to explore her new powers, and start a new adventure.
Near to Mina was a large amount of flowering bushes. In those bushes was a kitsune. Her name was Ei. Before Mina had appeared, Ei had been picking some berries, just trying to get by. Thankfully, today, there had not been any scary spiders that she had to eradicate. Sure, there was an occasional lady bug, but she knew that they were not harmful. But the moment that another girl just showed up out of the blue and onto the ground next to her, she scattered and hid in the bushes, watching and observing to see what happened next.
Ei watched as the girl grabbed her hair and said "cute," and claimed to have an "adorable voice, too." What an unusual girl. Why would she not know things about herself? I wonder if she's a monster? A horrible wizard who transformed himself? What do I do? I could shoot some magic missiles at her...but she has not attacked me. That probably would not be a good idea, especially if she's a powerful wizard. She put her nails to her mouth as she debated her options. But as she did, her fox ears became visible above the bushes as her body subconsciously rose slightly.
Mina heard the rustling from the nearby bush, and looked over at it. At first she saw nothing, but then she saw a very visible pair of fox ears appear. because of the height of where the ears were, she guessed it wasn't a fox unless it was a giant fox, but then a giant fox wouldn't be hiding, would it? She decided to investigate, and slowly crawled over to the bush, and peered over.
"Is someone here?" Mina questioned, as she tilted her head to the side.
"I'm not from around here, but I promise I'm not here to hurt you. I'm actually a bit lost." Mina stated with a giggle.
Mina heard a squeak of trepidation as the bushes rustled while Mina approached. Ei's heart started to race as she started to squirm for a new location. She's looking for me. Should I show myself? She said that she was not going to hurt me. But how do I even know if she's really someone that keeps her word? What do I do? What do I do?
Eventually, the decision was made for her as Ei tripped over her own tail and tumbled out of the bushes. "Ouch!" she exclaimed, as tears started pooling in her green eyes. "Please don't hurt me!" she wailed as she grasped her fox tail and started stroking it lovingly. "I meant no harm! I didn't mean to see you when you got here. So, if you don't mind.... I'll just be going...."
Mina watched as the kitsune tripped. She's kinda cute, but a bit clumsy. I wonder why she is so scared of me though. Are half elfs dangerous in this world? I still need to find out where I am though, and she's the first and only person I've seen so far.
"Wait" Mina called out. "Can you maybe tell me where I am? I really won't hurt you, I am serious. How could I hurt someone so cute? I'm Mina by the way." Mina said with a smile, holding out a hand to the kitsune.
Several moments passed as the kitsune blinked. She seems friendly. And she thinks I'm cute? What small chest she had puffed out happily. Eagerly she took Mina's hand. Her tears started to evaporate. "I'm Ei," she beamed, her face breaking into a large smile. "And how can you not know where you are? Have you lost your memory?" Ei asked concerned. "But if you did that, how could you remember your name? Huh?" the Kitsune replied confused.
"Maybe I should research this condition of yours, Mina. I can do that if you would like. And, oh, by the way, surely you know we're in the Kingdom of Demona, right? St. Ignace is just that way," she told Mina pointing over into the distance where some stone towers could be seen. The kitsune's body was lean, made to run, but appeared to be highly flexible as Ei twisted her body around.
Well, Ei seems nice enough, and she seems willing to help. I can't really tell her how I got here, so I should probably go with the amnesia angle.
"Yeah, it seems I can remember my name and all, but not really anything about my surroundings. Perhaps you'd be willing to help me around?" Mina asked, and did a bit of a pouty face at the end.
"Having such a cute guide would be awesome. I do have a bit of magic, but I'm not sure how useful it will be at this point. It's not really attack magic or anything." Mina added.
St. Ignace in the Kingdom of Demona. I should remember that.
"Well, I can't very well have you going around in these dangerous times without you knowing anything," Ei replied thoughtfully. She blushed hard, her cheeks becoming rosy when called "cute," again. "Um, yes, so I could help you. And, I, um, can attack if there is a problem." She bit her lower lip as she said that, knowing that nearly everything was a problem for her. "Tell me what you do remember about yourself and what you can do. That may help me help you."
Mina starts recounting what she knows.
"I'm Mina Lia. I'm 16. I'm a half elf, and an Enchantress, although I'm not really sure how these powers work yet. I think that's about it!" Mina happily replied to Ei.
"I'm sorry I can't remember more!" Mina apologized.
"An enchantress?" Ei asked curiously. "You didn't use your powers on me, did you?" Ei's eyes started getting larger, fear starting to return. She started to reach her hands out of her robes toward Mina and then, logic belatedly kicking in, she laughed sweetly, "Oh, no! Of course you didn't! If you did, I wouldn't be acting like this...." She blushed again but more lightly.
"I'm sorry, Mina. That's a really pretty name. And you're a pretty half-elf. I bet you have a special someone somewhere." Again, the kitsune bit her lower lip. "Do you have any food on you? Any money?" Ei asked Mina, fretting a little.
"I didn't enchant you. I don't actually know how..." Mina trails off, sadly.
Upon being complimented, Mina gets really embarrassed. Being a girl is still new to her, but she really likes being complimented. Is this Ei trying to hit on me, or is she just really nice? No matter, that's to think about later. Mina thought to herself.
"P-pretty? You think I'm pretty? I-I don't have a special someone! W-why do you ask?" Mina replies back nervously, blushing.
"Anyway, I'm afraid I don't have anything except myself. I'm sorry, I really am not very useful." Mina replies, tears starting forming in her eyes.
Ei wrapped her left arm around Mina and asked, "How do you not know if you don't have someone if your memory is gone? And not knowing how to enchant.... Wow! What a problem to have and we will solve it together. But of course you're pretty. I mean, look, you have such a great figure and you are so well built. I mean, you have boobs and I don't really. Add that to those cute half elf ears.... I mean, I wish I could look more like you."
Mina blushed brightly, as Ei wrapped her arm around, and even more at the further compliments.
"Well, I guess I wouldn't remember, but it seems like that would be important, like my name or skill. And look at you, there is more to being cute than just boobs. I mean, you're adorable!" Mina exclaimed.
Yup, I could tell me and Ei would get along just fine.
"So what now, Ei?" Mina asked, grinning.
Shyly, Ei turned away, her face turning beat red and her tail curling around Ei's waist, briefly swishing by Mina's side. "Um, well, I think, um, well, you should come with me to my room at St. Ignace. It is not much but it has my books. Maybe I can figure out what's going on with you. Just, um, can you please kill the bugs when they come about?"
"That sounds like a great idea! Lead the way Ei! Also, I'll be happy to kill the bugs. I-I have a question though. C-can I hug your tail when we get there? It looks so soft!" Mina quickly stuttered those words out, embarrassed, and blushing.
"AAAAYYYYYYYEEEEEeeeeeeeyyyyyeeeeeeeee!" Ei howled as she blushed even more furiously. She gathered herself enough to finally blurt, "I am so dirty and it is so, um, personal.... And you, um, we don't even know...." Her words choked away as her face became more and more red.
Mina found this to be adorably cute.
"It's fine, I guess that would be a bit personal. It was just so fluffy and soft, so I had to ask. Maybe one day." Mina said with a smile and a giggle.
"Uh, maybe, um.... OK, um, shall we get going?" Ei replied, still beet red.
Mina blushed as well.
"Yes, let's go!" Mina replied happily, as she began to skip along.
I am so ready for this new life!
