First Party Is Formed!

Mission: Undead Cabbages?
Location: The Guild

As Adel entered the Guild and looked around at the tables half filled with a wide variety of rough, hardened, and more delicate adventurers eating and drinking, she nodded and led her two new companions towards the counter in back where she recognized the Guild Attendant on duty. As she had hoped, it was the one that would fawn all over Lady Ei and with an anticipatory grin, she strode confidently forward.

"Lady Yoriko! Lady Ei has discovered someone that requires the aid of the Guild. She has appeared in our world with no memories of her past and no memories of how to use her powers," declared the pink Elven paladin, standing tall in front of the pair.

Hearing the declaration loud and clear, Yoriko easily spotted Ei and Mina and with the cat-like grace attributed to her race, she hopped over the counter and tried to reach for the two of them, but was quickly interceded in her attempts by Adel. True to her word, the tall lady paladin acted as a barrier and seemed to be enjoying it.

"Mrr... So... Cute..." Yoriko muttered as she reached for both of them.

"Our new com... Companion... Is named Mina. We'd like to register as a party and... and see what... can... nnn... can be done for... for Mina..." As Adel spoke, she was definitely highly skilled in defense, but she was definitely getting off on being used as a shield like she was.

Sensing the futility of trying to fawn over the two cuties behind the pervert blocking her path, Yoriko gave up for now and backed off, returning to her post behind the counter. "Fine. I'll start the paperwork. I'll just need your adventurer cards."

Mina pushed her pointer fingers together nervously. "Umm, I don't think I have one of those, do I?" Mina asked, looking back and forth at Ei, and Adel.

What have I gotten myself into? Ei wondered as everything seemed to be moving so fast for her. Adel had burst into her room, her haven for studying (when the bugs were not getting in and spooking her). She had taken Mina to her room out of the kindness of her heart and now, she was somehow being enlisted in a party. What did she miss?

There was a faraway look in the kitsune's eyes as she meekly handed over her adventure card to Yoriko. Quietly, she told Mina, "You should have one. All adventurers should. If you were not an adventurer, they might have to register you as one." She looked over at Adel and asked, "Um, are we sure about all of this? I, um, well, I'm used to my quiet...."

Mina looked at Ei and smiled. "I don't have one, but I guess I can register. The whole thing about this though, it's just registering us. We don't have to immediately go on an adventure if you don't want to. Once we're done here, we can go back to the Inn until you are ready. We have the ability to do a lot for this world though, and I would love to do that, with you, together." Mina replied confidently.

Mina looked to Adel. "After we register, can we go back to the Inn for a while until Ei is ready? I also think trying to figure out my powers in a safer environment before going on an adventure might be useful, so I at least know the basics." Mina questioned of Adel.

"You can try your powers on me. I would love to be your test subject," Adel blurted out, her blush deepening.

"Ok, you perverted paladin, let's get the cutie registered and we can go from there," Yoriko said as she pulled out a crystal ball in an ornate gold frame with a pendulum underneath it. She then placed a blank adventurer card underneath it. "Mina, was it? there's a two gold registration fee, so if you could pay that and place your hand over the crystal, we can get you registered."

Ei tried to hide herself so that her rapidly reddening face could not be seen. "Um, I, uh...." Ei squeaked and hid herself as her hand held out two gold coins for Mina. "Um, it might be better to adventure whenever you're ready, uh, because, um, I like, um, my quiet...."

Mina accepted the coins, and handed them to Yoriko, she then came back to Ei.

"Are you saying you're not gonna join the party? I don't want to go on this adventure without you." Mina pouted at Ei.

Mina then turned her attention to Adel. "You really want me to try my abilities on you? We don't know what might happen." Mina replied with a grin.

"Ei, you don't need to decide immediately, I still have to try and practice, but I would like you to join us. Would we be able to use your room for practice? I think with your reading collection, you might be able to help me learn what I need to know. That is, if you don't mind us using Adel as a subject." Mina questioned, with a smirk.

"I said that I would help you, Mina," Ei replied shyly. "I will keep my word. It is just...just...I mean there are really scary things out there!" Her eyes became large and frightened and rather than reddening, she started turning pale as a ghost.

"And that's why I will be there for you," Adel replied, kneeling and taking Ei's hands in her own. Even kneeling, the tall paladin looked imposing compared to the small kitsune, but at least she was finally a tiny bit shorter. "I swear upon the holy maiden Eris that I will place myself between you and those that wish you harm for that is my calling in life."

That was when Yoriko, the Guild attendant, cleared her throat and tapped the counter. "If you don't mind, since there's a wall of paladin between me and dressing Ei up in cute outfits, do you mind getting on with the registration? I've filled out the party registration other than your name, so I'd like to finish this up and get back to my other work."

Mina jumped a bit. "Oh right, yes. I'm Mina Lia, 16 years old. Do you need anything else? Also, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Ei dressed up in cute outfits." Mina replied, with a giggle.

Ei would look so cute in all kinds of things. Maybe she'll dress up with me, and we can match...

Mina glared over at Ei with a grin.

"Adel, I will take you up on that offer of trying my powers on you." Mina replied, with a smirk.

"That lascivious, wolf like look in your eyes..." Adel muttered, obviously turned on, a soft moan escaping her lips.

"Yes, very good," Yoriko said as Mina held her hand over the crystal and the pendulum started transcribing information on the card. As it did so, light from within the crystal glowed dimly and a small beam etched the details themselves. "It looks like you have pretty good stats for a caster. Excellent charisma and intelligence. You're already listed as an Enchantress, as well. It's laying out your skills now."

After just a moment, the crystal finished and Yoriko removed it to finish looking it over. "Well... This is... Ahem..."

The Nekojin woman then graciously handed the card to Mina with a slight bow. "Great Hero Enchantress Mina Lia, I hereby officially welcome you to the St Ignace Guild. May your days be filled with adventure and prosperity. We will be expecting great things of you."

Her mouth agape for a moment, Adel got to her feet and glanced over the new adventurer's card, spotting the special moniker immediately, denoting Mina specifically as a 'Hero'. "You are..."

Ei looked down at the paladin pledging her allegiance to her. "Are you sure you could do that? There's a lot of scary things out there.... Bugs....Toads....Undead.... I mean, I don't know if I'm meant to be the outdoors type. But, um...." It was then that she realized that everyone was talking about dressing her up. "Um, what were you planning on dressing me in?" Once again, her cheeks began to redden. "Does someone have a fan? It seems to be getting rather warm in here...."

Mina looks at Adel. "This explains my 'memory loss' I guess. hehe." Mina replied with a giggle.

Mina then grins at Ei, and turns to Yoriko. "So, I guess I am a "Great Hero", so I'll try not to let you all down!" Mina states proudly.

Mina then whispers to Yoriko: "What cute outfits do you have that we can put Ei in?" Mina asked with a grin.

"Ei, it will be ok, I will be with you too!" Mina tells Ei, before scooping her up into a hug.

"EEEEK!" Ei squealed as she was grabbed into another hug. She did not know how she was going to survive Mina and Adel, yet she could not figure out a way to hide from either. "You, uh, would not mind, uh, not doing that so, suddenly?"

"Well, it seems we're well on our way to becoming an actual adventuring party. We have two casters, solid defense..." Adel mused a moment as she easily intervened between Mina and Ei to somehow replace the Kitsune that was a foot shorter and far softer than her with herself. "We could use either a healer or a ranged fighter or a rogue."

Yoriko cleared her throat as she finished putting away her tools of the trade. "If you want an easy quest that you should be able to do with just the three of you, The undead cabbages harassing the town's western gate have been a lot more annoying recently. Killing each one will net you ten gold and if you find out where they're coming from and remove the source, that's a hundred fifty."

"Undead cabbages sound scary," Ei whined frightened.

"Undead cabbages? Aren't they supposed to be not dead? Can you tell us more?" Mina asked Yoriko.

"As you know, normally cabbages will leave their gardens when they're fully grown and look for someone to eat them. Someone's been turning them into undead before that and commanding them to attack the gate. They don't do much damage, but they're hard to kill since they're undead, unlike normal cabbages. Plus, we can't eat them now without risking undeath sickness," Yoriko explained.

Adel continued, filling in what she'd been doing to help. "I've been helping with that, acting as defense while the town guards try to slay the ones that get too close to the gate, but I can't seem to hit any of them. It's a little embarrassing... but... As good of a shield as I am, I just can't seem to hit anything." With her blush deepening to turn her whole face and ears almost crimson, she turned slightly away from the others.

"Yes, well..." Yoriko looked utterly unimpressed. "You stacked all your adventurer points in defense and I'm pretty sure you're intentionally taking minuses on your attacks..."

"I don't mean to be a skeptic, but exactly how will someone who is versed in defense, an enchanter, and um, well, me, going to do anything to something that is undead?" Ei started to sniff and then finally wail when she considered the entire mission hopeless. "I don't WANT TO BE UNDEAD or DIE!!!!! WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

"I mean, you could let this perverted knight stand out in front and block, while you blast them like the bugs in your room, and I'll just try to do something I guess." Mina replied to Ei.

"It should be fine, right?" Mina questioned.

This seems easy enough Mina thought.

"But there are so many more of them than there are us. My magic does not last forever. I can only take out so many. And how many cabbages are going to hit Adel before she gets tired?" Ei asked logically through tears and sniffs.

"Well, it should only take a few big blasts to get most of them. And Adel get tired? I swear she is fueled by this, in more ways than one." Mina replied with a snicker.

The paladin in question nodded vigorously. "Yes, I thoroughly enjoy being used as a meat shield and will happily... Nay! I take great pleasure in my duties as your defender! Please do not hesitate to use me! I volunteer to take all of the abuse!" If her breathing were any heavier, you could have seen it.

"But what happens when I run out of mana and can't cast anymore? And...and..." Ei tried to find words, finding Adel's heavy breathing to be somewhat disconcerting.

"It'll be fine, I promise!" Mina stated gladly.

"You could also go to the old temple, or rather what remains of it, and see if you can convince one of the clerics or priests to join you," Yoriko muttered with a sideways look that indicated that she didn't think that that was the best of ideas. "Even their most reliable..."

It took the guild attendant a moment to recover as if she were trying to get a foul taste out of her mouth. "Erosin... I'm not sure you'd want to party with her either. You have enough perverts."

With a glance over the trio, Yoriko amended her thinking. Then again, the whole party is perverse in some way - maybe she'd fit right in.

Ei's eyes widened and she shrieked, "I'm not a pervert! Who are you calling a pervert? Are you trying to give me a bad reputation, Yoriko?!"

As the Nekojin attendant glanced around at the other people in the guild, she realized that the trio weren't causing as much of a disturbance as she expected, but they were still drawing eyes. "Not you specifically..." She then eyed the other two. "But you're definitely being lumped into that category and people are starting to wonder after dragging a woman with that lecherous look in her eye into your room, then being interrupted by the perverted paladin."

"Perverted paladin? Is that what people call me behind my back?" Adel asked with a slight wiggle, her face and ears turning a deeper shade of crimson.

Is she mad? Embarrassed? Or confirming? Did I make a mistake? Wait! Did I even make a choice to join these folks. I was just coopted into this. How do I get myself into these things? What do I do? Ei grabbed her tail and started stroking it soothingly.

"You are so cute when you're nervous." Mina said with a grin to Ei, staring at her tail stroking.

"Anyway, what do you guys think? Should we go to the cabbages, or should be look for backup at the temple?" Mina asked everyone.

There is power in numbers, so maybe it would be good to have some help, but it's just some plants...

"Um, backup, front up, or whatever numbers, um, seems smart to me..." Ei replied worried about doing anything battle related.

"Well, good luck, and if you'd rather come back and let me fawn over you, just let me know," Yoriko remarked as she batted her cat eyes at the cute little woman fidgeting before them. "And Adel... Be sure no harm comes to them?"

"On my honor and pride as a Paladin of this realm, I swear it will be so," the taller, armored elf replied, suddenly far less lewd and much more serious.

Ei began to wonder more about how she ended up in this situation. At least Adel seemed to be now acting seriously. Perhaps there was hope. But what hope was there for Demona? Was not that why she had been studying? To try and find a solution? But how could she do anything with these two? Especially with one that knew so little about who she was.
