Doom of Demona Rules

Introduction

Doom of Demona is an Isekai based game. As this is anime themed, it is anticipated that characters may be exaggerated and larger than life characteristics and personalities. However, this does not mean that players should not be expected to have weaknesses or be defeated. Just like all “super heroes,” they should have weaknesses and can be defeated. Players should expect the unexpected and remember that anything can and will happen.

Remember, the object of a game is to have fun. However, fun has to work for everyone. That is not to say that characters have to get along or be friends. However, it is important to remember that out of character everyone must be treated with respect and follow the rules of this game.

General Rules Overview

Yes, this was partially written by an attorney! To preserve fun, we want to make certain that everyone is aware of these prevailing rules:

  1. You must be age 18 or more to participate in Doom of Demona.

  2. This sim is generally rated 2-2-2. Any writing that might exceed that level must receive explicit approval of a Game Master prior to posting.

  3. Players may not utilize any characters that are copyrighted or relatives of characters that are copyrighted. All characters should be original creations.

  4. All players are expected to have read and understood the {insert fleet here} rules/whatever.

  5. All players agree to abide by the Split World Alliance Anti Harassment and Discrimination Policies, which can be found here: https://wiki.split-world.com/doku.php?id=harassment_policy

  6. By participating in this game, you explicitly agree not to violate any of the Split World Alliance “Big No-Nos” which can be found here: https://wiki.split-world.com/doku.php?id=what_not_to_do

  7. Barring leave of absence, players are expected to sign in at least every 72 hours (48 hours is preferred and encouraged) and answer tags in that period of time. Players are also expected to have at least two completed posts in every 30 days.

  8. Failure to abide by any of these policies may result in sanctions up to and including removal from the game.

Posting Rules and Guidance

  1. DO NOT SIGN POSTS! The post has the writers at the top. If you are not paying attention enough to see who wrote the post, then you are probably not paying enough attention to the game. It also increases the likelihood that you will be starting with a new character if your Game Masters are feeling generous.

  2. Posts that exceed the 2-2-2 level or are meant for mature audiences must start with an 18+ tag in your topic title. This keeps it from appearing on the home page once it's published, which helps keep it hidden from underage visitors who happen to find us. (The attorney writing this does not like putting anyone here in a position that might get anyone sued or found criminally responsible in some court somewhere. He likes to keep his livelihood.)

  3. Be creative and realistic. Although we are in a fantasy environment, realistic means understanding that there are limitations created by the environment and your character’s limitations. It also means that there will be consequences to your character’s actions. For example, if you try to seduce the queen of a kingdom, whether you succeed or fail, it is quite likely that you’re going to make an enemy of said king. Similarly, if your character is a newbie in the world and immediately goes after the big bad, your character is likely to die or have other more horrible things happen to it.

  4. All posts have a minimum of 500 words. The maximum is 15,000 words because that is the limit that Nova’s system imposes. If a post, for effect or because of word limitations, requires breaking up, please try to do so at points that make sense for literary reasons.

  5. Proper English (American or UK) should be utilized for spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Permissible exceptions include characters that do not utilize those conventions but such characters should be approved by the Game Masters first.

  6. Third person should always be used for narrative writing.

  7. To keep writing styles uniform, the following stylistic designs are required:

    1. Words spoken by characters must go in “quotation marks.”

    2. Characters’ internal thoughts must be italicized.

    3. Psionic attacks or telepathy must be boldly italicized.

    4. Other written communications should be in bold.

  8. When writing a joint post with another player, the word “tag” should be used where you would like another person to respond. In joint posts involving more than one character, if any character is permitted to respond or react, typing “tag” is sufficient. However, if a tag is for a specific player, the tag must indicate the specific player to write in that location by writing, “tag - specific character’s name.”

  9. Tags are preferred to be answered in 48 hours but in no less than 72 hours barring a leave of absence.

  10. All posts must adhere to the simulation timeline and appropriate use of time stamps is required.

  11. Always write from your character’s perspective. NEVER use out of character information to benefit your character. (i.e. Metagaming is disallowed)

  12. NEVER write for another person’s character. Players may not write other characters' reactions or have something occur to another character without the other character’s consent. This includes Game Master characters or NPCs. ONLY Game Masters can write involuntary actions and results to characters.

Activity and Leaves of Absence

  1. Players must log in at least every 7 days.

  2. If a player is unable to log in for a week, a player must request a Leave of Absence (LOA).

  3. A leave of absence cannot last longer than two weeks unless an Extended Leave of Absence (ELOA) is requested.

  4. The amount of time that an ELOA may last is in the discretion of the Game Masters; however, it is encouraged that one not last for more than two months. Should more time be necessary, a player may wish to consider (or the Game Masters may force the player) going inactive until such time that the player can return to active posting.

Miscellaneous Suggestions and Expectations for Maximum Gaming Enjoyment

  1. Remember the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would have them treat you. In other words, be respectful of other people and their creations. If you have an issue with someone or something, communicate it to that person and if that does not resolve matters, communicate with the Game Masters.

  2. BE FLEXIBLE! Anything can happen to your character! Roll with the punches and make it into an unforgettable experience.

  3. RULE ZERO IS ALWAYS IN EFFECT! Game Masters have the full and final say over any matters regarding the sim, including the modification of any rules. If things seem inconsistent, there may be a reason. Just remember to BE FLEXIBLE and if concerned or confused, COMMUNICATE!

  4. Stay involved with the sim and the players by talking freely with players out of character in the sim discord, email, private message, or by whatever means that is comfortable for you and others. This builds rapport and can help brainstorm ideas for future missions or character interactions.

  5. Read all of the posts, regardless of whether your character is involved. It may help give you clues as to the overall story and is generally appreciated by your fellow writers. You may even learn something in terms of writing style that you may wish to incorporate for yourself. It also is important for potentially nominating players/characters for awards.

Character Creation

  1. All characters must be original creations.

  2. All characters must have had an untimely demise at some point during high school (14-17 years old). Said demise could have been self inflicted.

  3. Characters will be given a boon when going to their new world where the game takes place.

  4. Characters must select a skill set for their new abilities: melee, arcane, divine, or stealth.

  5. Characters must have personality and other flaws that will come into play during the course of the game.

  6. Players are expected to adhere to character’s bio; however, characters are expected to learn and grow from their initial biography.

  7. All characters are subject to Game Master approval and may be accepted, rejected, or removed at any time.
